Doing Route 66 and after 3 days of road side cafes decided to look for something NOT a hamburger. I got the schnitzel sandwich and homefries. He got the bratwurst, saur kraut and german potato salad. We both enjoyed ours. 1 man holding down the fort so it was a little slow but the break from the car was overdue. Definitely recommend.
Out of the four things we tried to order, they didn’t have ingredients to make the food on the menu so we ended up just ordering burgers, there was only one worker working making service slow.
It's a small town deli/store/diner. Owner is a great guy. He was a one man show when we were there. Took your order. Went into the kitchen and you could hear him pounding the pork for the schnitzel then serving it. I've been to many German restaurants and aboard a German naval ship and I can say the food was as authentic as it comes. He doesn't have a wide and varied menu but what he has he does well. Nice spot and a well hidden gem.It's by the post office down town.Paul was very friendly and made feel welcome.
