In this hospital, on July 18, 2013 my mother died because the hospital has no control over the skills of nurses. After the incident I do not know if they fired the nurse or if she quitted but they immediately told me that she is not at the Palmetto Hospital anymore. I have had enough of bad experiences of 11 previous admissions from December 2012 to July 2013, in order to say that the room nurses are not prepared for emergencies. Not all of them are bad, but there are many who are. They do not like it when you call them to come and see your relative and in my case I was asked on two occasions to leave my mom defecated when she was having a transfusion. Of course I did not leave her like that because I realized that they just did not want to clean her. In my opinion CNAs are more human than nurses. Some people complaint, they yell and make scandals. I am not like that. This is why I write this letter because in this hospital what works is a trashy behavior. When people yell at them they tremble. I experienced it through other families. Please take care of your families and be aware of these nurses as they can be killers with overpaid salaries for their skills. What is a nurse who is not prepared for an emergency? After my mother’s death the hospital made some changes in the rooms.
I consider this hospital treated us like animals without rights. We are not informed what we can do, where we can communicate when there is a bad job. It seems like we are in a country without rights and that Latinos are animals. I cannot say that the top executives are to blame maybe the complaints never get to them. But they do not have control of how prepared people are in the hospital. This is not a racist comment, this is a comment from someone who lived a very difficult time and was with her hands tied. You may contact me if you want to know everything that happened to me with my mother, so that your family does not suffer the same. When you see mistreat or a bad job with a patient report it, go straight to the head nurse put your complaint whether I your family or not because this is the way we can change the world. So they know that we are not animals in Hialeah that people need human care, we need doctors and nurses that care for their patients. There are also doctors who should be in a swine slaughterhouse. These are arrogant people who do not like to be asked. As Dr. Guerra who in my opinion is terrible, rude, discourteous.
Whenever you get this doctor ask to change the doctor, because we have the right to know and that is his job to explain to us. If he does not like it he needs to change his profession. He does not need to be so arrogant because when he dies he will be nothing more than dust like the most ignorant of his patients but perhaps they are more human than he is.
I also found very good doctors and good nurses. All are not bad because if not then it we would be us who have the problem, me and my family. This Hospital needs to do extreme changes, because when we see a new hospital we find different attention and services, why not in Hialeah?
Why do you have to wait for people to die? Why do you have to carry on your conscience a pain as immense as the one we have. What we suffered because of what we saw, because a nurse is not prepared for an emergency, what would you think if you had this experience and then without you doing anything you find out the nurse quitted of the hospital fired her? As the Nurse Chief Katherine GUIDO informed us in the presence of the 6th Floor Director and two more witnesses when we went to explain what we had experienced on July 18, 2013. My mother was never alone a single second during the 11 admissions, if this happened to us, if we saw so much then what happens to people who do not have anyone in Palmetto? Think and do something. Thanks for getting here reading my complaint.
