Palikū Cabin is truly a hidden gem. I began my journey at Red Hill, crossing the vast crater valley, ultimately reaching Palikū Camp 3 tent site. If you go, bring a durable, all-weather tent — the overnight dew here is intense, and even when there’s no rain, everything can get soaked. An elevated blow-up bed or a good sleeping mat is a must to protect you from the cold ground. This is the best cabin you can book in Haleakala National Park. It is the far in the crater, requires about 10 miles to get to, but it is a beautiful spot to spend a night or two.
