The old grey haired man who owns the place is a thief. The washing machines in the middle state they will wash for $1.75, then, after you have deposited that amount, they charge you an extra 0.50 per load if you select anything except cold water. At that point it is too late to remove your load, since you have already spent $1.75 on each machine and put soap in the machine (it doesn't tell you this until you hit the start button).
