A few years back we found Paisano's, at that time we purchased a real Italian rum cake. My Dad loved it. A few times after that we purchased other rum cakes and they we're terrible. So we stopped going. Well recently we decided to stop in and get a piece of their rum cake knowing it would have not a Real whip cream frosting. Well I probably will never return. Wow! Recommended by friends of mine, this place brought back memories of the bakeries back home when I was a kid! I spent more money than I intended to because I just couldn't make a decision. We ended up trying the eggplant marinara to take home for dinner. It was delicious, as good as any Italian restaurant. Cookies and pastries for dessert... the pignolis are to die for! A fabulous old time bakery! The owners are from RI, and they've been in business for 10 years. Quite an accomplishment for a small family run business. The food is very good. I suggest the pizza, it's my family's favorite. Cannolis are filled when you order them so they don't get soggy! The pastries look beautiful, smell heavenly, and taste as good as they look! Nice crusty Italian bread, mouth watering cannolis, large selection of Italian cookies and pastries makes Paisano's my favorite stop whenever I hit Sarasota.
