It was easy to book a rental online the day before. Very friendly and helpful staff in Hammocks State Park. The trip to and from Bear Island is amazing in kayak. It is also very safe. Amazing way to know the beautiful coastline of North Carolina. Thank you to Paddle NC for making this trip possible.!
5-1-22 In Hammocks Beach State Park and to the left of the visitor center and ferry pier. Has its own dock for launching kayaks. You can rent kayaks or take tours. If you are paddling to Bear Island, especially first time, I would recommend using their guides as you could get lost quick. I couldn't make sense of where we were going, particularly when coming back to the dock. Let them worry about that. Did the Bear Island tour (5 hours) with Brittany and Wes as our guides.
