Wife bought a car while I was out of town and when I returned the day after, the car had check engine lights, brake pulse, suspension failure, oil leaks, and possibly a broken catalytic converter. I went back to see if we could get our money back and I was told repeatedly "it's a used car, it's not going to be perfect" and "well, in the contract it says we aren't liable and it's signed so ..."
