I called member services today and I really needed information and my doctor had me call the number on the back of my card. For every question the response I was given was I dont know. She spoke over me when I tried to speak, and like i was bothering her,and this is the second time. I have had it with them and I'm seeking another. I am too chronically ill , to be talked to like I'm garbage, and that my needs do not matter at all.
This is a horrible company. They deny everything and make the patients prove they are sick. Head of U Penn Department is being denied by doctors graduating last from Pheonix University. Do not sign with this group. Additionally, PA Wellness is handled out of CA. What a racket.
Avoid this insurance at all cost. My husband is an amputee and has been going to the same prosthetist for nearly 20 years they refused to do an out of network acceptance for his yearly supplies that he needs so we had to hurry up and find a new one. (which they did last year for continuity of care) Then he went to the retina specialist that was in network with them last year just to find out that this year they are not. This is not the right number.
Not a great company if you actually have medical needs. They are the lowest cost insurance carrier in PA so that is the reason I choose them from time to time as independent contractor. Some of their rates are better than Blue Cross because the copay for a high ded plan are usually pretty low to see a doc, pcp, or urgent care. So in case of such an incident it helps with your peace of mind. However calling customer service is a nightmare.
