About this business
History Established in 1940. Founded in 1940 by William and Lina Leichsenring. Prior to 1932 Lina worked in a Amana Communal Kitchen where the families would come for their three daily meals. The Ox Yoke Inn was one of those Communal Kitchens. In 1908 William was born in the room which today is the restaurant's Amana Dining Room. Love the food! This is a favorite of my mom and I. We love the fact that they bring cottage cheese to the table. One of my favorites is the jager schnitzel and wiener schnitzel. They also have the best desserts, and you can buy whole pies to go. Sometimes we eat here the day before a holiday and then buy a couple of pies to go.
Great Food! The food at this place is great. The restaurant is old fashioned and serves the food in a more family style. The restaurant is fairly expensive so be prepared to spend $20 per person for a meal. For a special occasion or a family meal this is the ideal place to eat. As an added benefit you can tour and enjoy the historic Amana Colonies.
Family style always great family style food and a lot of it. friendly people and nice atmosphere. little prices and sometimes crowded on weekends so go on a week night.
Ox Yoke Restaurant Ox Yoke Restaurant located in Amana Iowa is a GREAT place to eat. On Sunday they have an really good buffet and you wont leave hungry. Their staff is very nice. Their food is also VERY GOOD! A+++
