There have been two main “eras” at Overload…and I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing both, as well as the transition. Carlos launched the gym and set a great foundation. His knowledge is deep, and under his training and oversight I hit prs I never thought possible at my age and for that I am very grateful. Super friendly, super clean, excellent equipment and good vibes. Cannot recommend highly enough to anyone who wants to be stronger, especially anyone powerlifting.
I never experienced hostility from any of the male members. They were all kind and respectful to me and everyone else. The hostility I witnessed actually came from a female member who I saw yell at another member for no good reason. A different day, this same woman came into the gym, made a beeline for a bench that was in use, and asked the member to get off of it because it was a “specialty bench” for competitors only and therefore she was entitled to it, despite other benches being available. ~~ Review update posted February 14, 2026 Since my original post and subsequent update, I have learned this gym is now under new management. My feedback on Carlos Santoliquido's ill-bred behavior as the previous owner still stands, but it in no way reflects Mimosa's current ownership. I am so pleased she is fostering a more inclusive and respectful training environment.
