Imagine a turn of the century European stately home in the countryside, surrounded by lawns and gardens a la Jane Austen's novels. Three hundred acres of wooded paths, and miles of rolling land, The Outing Lodge is an authentic retreat for those looking to seat by a roaring fireplace and, for the time being, detach from the rush of city life. For the past 25 years, the Outing has become an all-seasons venue for weekends, weddings, reunions and retreats.

Not as nice as we were hoping – First off, let me start by saying we probably never would have tried this place if it wasn't for the deal we received through Crowd Cut. My fiancée and I got this deal as a way to get away from everything for a night. The original price that's posted says it's $175 and we got it for under $100. We arrived and the place is very nice looking from the outside. It does appear that there is some building going on on the property as well. We were shown to our room and settled in. There was a bottle ... read more
Wierd Management, but Overall Good Experience – I just had a wedding reception here and me and my guests stay there for a few nights. If you're planning on taking a shower, I'd block off about 1 hour minimum, because it'll take 20 minutes to figure out how to adjust the knobs, 20 minutes for the water to get warm, and 20 min to shower. And our shower wouldn't shut off. The owners suggestion was to "just play with it", well we played with it for 30 minutes and gave up and it ran all night long. Also, one of the beds in our ro... read more
Worst B & B I have even encountered!!!! Not safe! Be ware!!!! – I went on a girls weekend with my mom and my aunt thinking at 170 dollars a night we would be staying in an elegant rustic old home, clean, safe, and great service. We encountered the exact opposite. Driving up the long dirt road I looked to my left and saw an old rusted white van with junk scattered all around it. Pulling up the the house was more rusted old vehicles that hadn't been moved in what looked like decades. I felt like I was in one of those old horro... read more
Estate living in a charming rural setting. – The Scene This lovely property is reminiscent of a 19th-century European country retreat, surrounded by lawns and gardens, 360 acres of wooded walking paths and miles of rolling farmland. The interiors feature a tasteful simplicity, with common areas adorned with wide-planked wooden floors and paneling cut from 100-year-old pine and fir beams. All cracks and imperfections are proudly on display, providing a picturesque backdrop for the elegant Early American and European antique f... read more
Overall good, but a couple of flaws – We went for our anniversary. Charming place, loved the decor, hosts were wonderful. Breakfast buffet wonderful. But from 1:50 AM to 2:15, we were serenaded by a dog barking right below our window. At about 5:30 we had a repeat chorus - just enough to wake us up. They are working on their hot water system, so there was a very inconsistent flow of hot water.
Great ambience – I stumbled across the Outing Loge while cross country skiing in the area. It's a charming old place that has an inviting warmth. On the main floor there is a fireplace that is so large you can almost walk in to it. Upstairs there is a common room with a sofa that several people could lay on...together. After I found this place I realized it has been featured on the food channel...on The Best of... I think, for their spectacular Russian New Years or celebration. They offer a feast almost once a month.
