Tom repaired (and improved) a loose newel post on a home we purchased. The post was barely connected and had split the bottom rail. Tom also pointed out that the spindles were too far apart to meet code. He secured the post, added a new plate at the bottom, rails at the top, and was able to match the spindles so that the spacing is perfect (and up to code). Tom repaired a few loose stairs in a house that I had just purchased. I was unsure of what the issue was but it turned out that the previous owner did not have proper stringers. Tom remade the stringers onsite, installed them, and put the stairs back together on the same day! He is very professional; showed up on time and got the job done quickly. I would highly recommend Ouellette Carpentry to anyone looking to fix or upgrade their stairs!

A few years ago I had Tom Ouellette come out to install a new curved banister in my home. I had removed a cast iron banister that was too short and simply unsafe when I refinished my floors. There were few carpenters in South East Michigan who would even attempt the job. Tom not only gave me a fair price he helped us pick what would work in the space, came out every day until the job was done, and gave me daily status reports letting me know where he was and what needed to be done.
