I made a reservation for when I was planning to drop my son off at college when I heard about amazing omakase in New Haven, of all places. They keep the front door locked because the area appears a bit seedy. When we left, there were homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk. But the food was delicious! Incredible experience! The food is incomparable to any other experience. Wonderful for a date, a special dinner, or a night to yourself. Each time I've gone is better than the last.
The omakase menu was good, and the first 5 dishes were excellent. Reservation is required for the omakase bar, but otherwise it’s walk-in only. The food is great, and the only critique I have is that the caviar is a little bit sour and they put a little too much wasabi. My favorite was the bluefin tuna nigiri.
Simply the best authentic Japanese sushi around. If you want a taste of Japan, this is it.
