I would not recommend Osterman propane LLC for business. And the reason why I say this for seven years I've been charged $85 in October for a propane tank for the pool that I haven't used. Why they bill for a pool tank in October when pools are closed is beyond me. And the lady that I talked to said well you haven't used it for seven years and I said then why wouldn't you as a business give a courtesy call to a customer saying we noticed that you haven't used your pool tank would you like us to remove that. Chas, the $9.00 fee is not a "reading" charge. Your system is metered which means it also falls under a certain category of regulations which are monitored by the state. We must perform stringent annual maintenance, operator and performance qualifications for this installation. All of which must be copiously documented. This incurs additional cost which cannot be recouped through the price per gallon, which is why we must add the monthly fee.

Osterman Propane provides fuel to our small condo assn. for seniors. Each home is metered re: usage, and on a regular basis a "meter reader" comes by to record the numbers. Our new contract provided a comparable rate to other fuel providers. What was not pointed out at the contract review was the additional $10 "reading charge". So, for our association of 30 units that would be $300.00 for the half hour it might take to record 30 numbers. That's a VERY nice additional monthly profit for Osterman at EVERY reading. Horrible customer service!! Heaven forbid you want to top off your tank for any reason! You have to be at 30 or below!! I called the Thurs. before Hurricane Sandy to top off. I was told tank had to be 30 or less. Then when it did read below 30, no one came. When I called to cancel they asked why. Well I told the lady. She wanted to argue with me. Saved my butt on a cold night – Don't know what the other review is talking about. Despite the mild winter, we did have one cold night, in February and of course, that's the night my furnace decides to act up. Called Osterman answering service, had to wait a while but once I got through they sent out a serviceman. In the middle of the night and in a few hours, had the heat back on. Don't know about running out of gas, they put me on automatic delivery and have never had an issue.

Willing to take your money – Horrible customer service! The customer service is extremely condescending and sarcastic. You will not get much further with the manager. I have actually switched companies as a result of the poor service. I have been run out of propane as a result of them not coming to fill as scheduled. God forbid you discontinue service with them. Be aware that you will be charged for the retreival of THEIR equipment. If you discontinue propane delivery service with this company, they charge YOU to pick up the... read more
