While vacationing in Kauai last August, my husband had a urological issue and we researched Urologists and read reviews. Dr. Ortolono looked like the best choice and we made an appointment. We were immediately impressed with him, his nurse, Pua, and his staff. Dr. Ortolono spent a great deal of time with my husband, diagnosed his problem and scheduled a follow up appointment. He was very knowledgeable, professional and had a wonderful bedside manner. We felt very fortunate to have found such a caring Doctor.
Dr. Ortolano treated me for testicular cancer about 15 years ago in Albuquerque NM. The surgery went great and have had no problems since. I would recommend him for sure.
Dr. Ortolano lied to me by omission. I had three face to face conversations with him. I have bladder cancer and he did not make me aware at any time that his practice could not deliver the needed BCG treatments. BCG treatments are the equivalent to chemo therapy but directed only to the interior of the bladder. These treatments should be delivered in a timely manner within a few weeks after the removal of any bladder tumors, that did not occur. Don't use Dr. Ortolano for any reason.
I am a reviewer with a medical background and was formerly tenured on faculty of a medical school. I would like to say I have no idea why Dr. Ortolano has such opposing ratings as I found him to be: 1. Thorough 2. Highly competent 3. Very educational 4. Very patient 5. Offering clear guidance 6. Most congenial. I can't imagine why there would be a number of extreme negative reviews. I would highly recommend him as a urologist.
Could not have had better care in NM! Other people I know with similar kidney cancers and did not see Dr. Ortolano lost their entire kidney or did not have optimal treatment. Dr. Ortolano is a true professional and puts the care of his patients and their treatment options at the front of any treatment plan. He reads the literature, is transparent and communicates with specialists across the country - if he can't do it, he is honest, and will refer you out. Thank you for your dedicated servic
My experience with Dr. Ortolano is nothing except outstanding in all aspects in his treatment, surgical skills and knowledge in treating my bladder cancer. I doubt you could find a better urologist, oncologist and surgeon!
