I took violin lessons for 4 years from Christopher Brooks. When I first started out in 9th grade, I hadn't an idea of how to vibrato or even practice my violin. Mr. Brooks was extremely patient and met me where I was at each lesson even when I didn't have the time to practice as much as I would have liked. He pushed me to play harder pieces and encouraged me to practice smarter, to focus on high yield etudes and exercises. This is the third year that I am studying with Chris. He is a great teacher. I love his creativity. In my first year he encouraged me to write my own music which was a lot of fun. We played my piece together at his students' recital and at the spring concert at my school and that gave me a lot of satisfaction. As I grow and improve Chris always challenges me to work my hardest and always supports me. Chris exposed me to different kinds of music like contemporary and Irish and broadened my interest in music.
