Pass on the nearly tasteless Patty Melt. The worst I've ever eaten. My wife's fish & chips was good, so I guess I just picked the wrong item. Ground beef with zero flavor, Swiss cheese that country would never claim, stringy fried onions, all served on thick "Texas" toast that increased the size, but did nothing for the flavor. I'm sure you can tell I was disappointed. Service was good, though.

Service and food was excellent
Original Jacks is an adequate diner, open for breakfast and lunch, in the seaside town of Avalon. While the menu offers plenty of choices, we found the service to be slow and disconnected from its' guests. The food quality is average. The pancakes were dry and tasted of the burnt griddle on which they were cooked. The French toast was pretty tasty and moist.
