It got weird for a while and we stopped going. Recently we saw Julius Caesar, Jitney and The Importance of Being Earnest and they were all really good. We will probably buy tickets for more shows in the fall.
I loved the Shakespeare plays. But the last few years have been so ridiculous. Julius Caesar 2025 is all female non binary cast. I want to see a traditional Shakespeare play, not a political statement. This is why OSF has been suffering the last few years, what is wrong with a male paying a masculine role? We stopped attending a few years ago due to this nonsense.
I have always enjoyed their performances, whether you’re watching Shakespearean shows or something else. The casts are talented, and even if something isn’t perfectly to your taste, it’s often still enjoyable in some regard (such as staging). In both the Thomas Theatre and Angus Bowmer you won’t have any issues finding seats with a good view (I haven’t been in the other theatre).
