had been a member at the Orangetheory Berkeley location and still had three prepaid classes remaining when that location closed. Since Berkeley was no longer an option, I went to the Oakland location to use the classes I had already paid for. I mostly go to Elliot’s classes on Mondays and Wednesdays. He is an awesome instructor! Great energy and super encouraging. The workouts are fun and varied. I like watching my heart rate zone on the screens. When I first heard about OTF, I thought it would feel competitive in a negative way, but it’s not at all. Everyone is super nice and focused on their own workout, not “competing” with others.
Orangetheory is cool but FIND ANOTHER LOCATION. Parking is horrible. Walked in one minute after the cutoff time, and they wouldn't let me join the class -- even though it wasn't a full class. (For the record, a traffic light was down along my route so that + parking created delay.) They couldn’t even give a warning. Management, please do some introspection (and read the other reviews about you -- there are also mumblings among the membership). This place has sketchy pricing practices. Shortly after I signed up they reached out *repeatedly* to offer me a $20 per month discount but refused to honor the offer. The workouts are fine as long as you can deal with constant high pressure sales efforts, upsells, and feeling disregarded by management.
