Edit to add: the first night after finding out about the unauthorized upcoming charges, my elderly mother isn't able to sleep from worry. This is bad for her health, she's 85. CHARGES SHOULD BE MADE CLEAR UP FRONT SO PEOPLE CAN CHOOSE FOR THEMSELVES IF THEY WANT SERVICES It's unethical not to do so!! The more I think about this, the angrier I get. A good company, but 300 dollars per person for checking vitals when ambulance services were not even specifically requested is unacceptable. There is no informed consent. Anywhere else you are informed of a fee! When you're under duress its even worse. When we inquired about the possibility of a bill the paramedic told us he thought we might not even get a bill. This is the second time I needed to call Orange Cross for emergency transport to a local hospital. They're definitely helpful and considerate and able to start an IV on a hard to stick person.
