DO NOT GO TO OPTUM. I am a doctor myself and I understand how medical billing works. For a new patient visit for my child, for constipation, with the new patient code 99204 the insurance was billed $615. This is ridiculous. I have NEVER charged a patient that much, and I am a specialist as well. I am highly disappointed. I am in medicine and I know how things work. Patients, who do not understand medical billing, are going to be taken advantage of in these situations. This is highly unethical.
