The midwives and practitioners at new paltz ob gyn are amazing. Amy, Deb, Katherine and Lisa are wonderful. I saw them all for prenatal care during both of my pregnancies and had nothing but positive experiences. They are caring and knowledgeable. The office staff, including Elsa, Amy's nurse, are caring and attentive. Amy Sherwood goes above and beyond, listens to her patients and makes you feel respected and establishes a dually respectful patient relationship. 1 star is for cleanliness. Optum in New Paltz OB/Gyn office front desk and insurance personnel are incompetent and lack motivation. My first OB appt was canceled due to insurance personnel not appropriately verifying insurance coverage (which should be done prior to appts to avoid issues). Front desk then told me that the visit will be out of pocket, then asked front desk to find out how much office visit will be out of pocket in which front desk did not complete request. I saw this abgyn last Tuesday they said that they were going to do a pap smear and to see if I have any abnormals but they told me we are going to scrape your cervix to see any abnormals but they did a DNC on me and they said we're doing this scraping so we could see any abnormal in your cervix but the thing is they never mentioned to me that they were going to do a d&c and scrape my cervix I thought I was just getting a pap smear with the little q-tip but they did both that and a d&c but I did not know they were doing that ... read more

Less than 1 star. They have overcharged me by $400. as per my insurance company, and keep sending me false bills. Do not trust them.
