They deny more effective meds and make you use less effective meds first which just contributes to your illness. When you have an incurable, progressive, debilitating disease more effective meds are super important to limit disability, but that's not important to Optima Health. Money and the bottom line is their main concern, as is their parent company, Sentara Healthcare who I have dealt with many times. I've been taking medication for years and Medicaid has paid for it . Since Optima health took over, they no longer want to pay for medicine I need for one of my medical conditions . I've been fighting with them for two weeks. Also they are denying blood work at the cancer center,my uncle has once a year for non Hodgkins lymphoma. Every procedure or Dr's appointment and oxygen machine. They are denying every test They are a horrible company. Please get other insurance. Optima health doesn't care about no one but themselves.

honestly just run. choose a different health insurance. this one doesn’t help when needed. god forbid you need to find a dentist in your area .. most hardest thing ever. the app and the website crashes or doesn’t load. i’ve had issues finding a dentist for a year now. i’m so ready to switch insurances and never come back. they are rated so low for a reason. lesson learned.

Have been trying to help my mother with her medical issues, they don't ever seem to be able to answer questions we need answered and when I request to speak to people over them, never put through to those people. Not a good customer service company....

Ever since I switched to the silver plan, all my prescriptionshave been SIGNIFICANTLY CHEAPER compared to the bronze plan (like 89% cheaper). However, the main issue I have with Optima is that they keep changing my mail delivery preferences to electronic. I would prefer my EOBs to be in PRINT because it's easier to read and I don't check my email all the time. I have told them this over the phone as well to send them to me in PRINT, yet it always keeps changing back to electronic for the EOBs. I understand you believe it's b... read more
