I was recently laid off and visited opticare since my new insurance wasn't accepted at my old provider (who was awesome to me for years! Eye care associates, prospect CT). My current insurance does not cover contact lenses so I paid out of pocket for the exam to fill a new prescription. I had been wearing a brand of contact lenses for over 10 years so I knew all I needed was a new prescription.
