OCLI has a modern office and a good-looking website, but my experience with their Lake Success location was disappointing. We brought my mother with a referral from another ophthalmologist specifically for a cataract surgery evaluation. Appointment made a year ago. Diabetic/annual eye exam. Got a call last week that the doctor I was supposed to see would not be in on the date of my appointment. Was told first available appointment with my doctor was over 6 weeks away from my original appointment. Offered appointment with optometrist instead of ophthalmologist. Very disappointed with OCLI Vision in Garden City. My wife was handed multiple forms to sign before her appointment, but nobody clearly explained that certain tests might not be covered by insurance. We have both medical and vision insurance and were surprised to receive a bill afterward. Getting answers was nearly impossible. Calls went unanswered, emails were ignored, and it took almost 10 days plus an in-person visit before we finally received a response. In September 2025, Dr. O’Brien performed cataract surgery on my left eye. The result was a significant refractive miss, leaving me without usable mid-range or near vision despite paying for a premium lens. Only after consulting another surgeon did I fully understand that my eye was complex and outcomes could vary. What I cannot accept was the response afterward. I had an ongoing excellent experience with Dr. Eric Donnenfeld during my recent ophthalmology visit. He is extremely knowledgeable and take time to thoroughly explain your condition and treatment options. His approach was professional and compassionate, which made you feel comfortable and confident in his care. The clinic is spacious, very comfortable, and fully and equipped with new diagnostic equipment. Its medical and front staff was exceptionally efficient and caring. Highly recommend! M.T.

I’m a surgeon and my left eye vision started to deteriorate by the DAY two months ago now likely from a cataract (been through this before with my right eye).. Was lucky I thought to get an appointment with OCLI but as it turns out, this was a mistake. First I waited an hour and a half while dilated to be seen. Then Dr. O’Brien told me I have 20/20 vision (which I don’t) and that my left eye was fine (which it wasn’t). Then she refers me to her colleagues in Philly. Not very reassuring. I had  an upper blepharoplasty and upper brow lift from Dr Peter J Wong-OCLI on May 5 th to address droopy eyelids that were impacting my vision. Dr. Wong, Yolanda and his staff were wonderful; they explained everything clearly and made me feel comfortable. The surgery was relatively painless, and while the recovery involved some swelling, bruising the final results exceeded my expectations.
