Purchased a black opal on Dec 4th when I was in Cairns. I don't have any previous knowledge about opals but was convinced that the salesperson would be honest or inform me about the marks. When I came back to the GC and when I showed my friends/family they noticed that there were 3 distinct marks on the black opal which seems to be "peeled off". Im unaware that genuine opals can be stripped off. I paid a hefty amount for this stone and quite disappointed! Pictures will be attached.
We had a lovely experience buying an opal earring for my partner. Shop holder helped find the right size and appropriate accompanying metal - all at a very reasonable price. I believe they’re having a clearance sale to empty the store within the next year.
