Opah Restaurant

4.5

About this business

The Opah, also called the Moonfish, was often thought as good luck if caught by fishermen. The Opah Seafood Grill wants to bring that good future to its patrons and offers friendly service and great food. The creatively prepared and low priced cuisine makes Chef Marc Cohen as extraordinary as his dishes. Whether a small cozy meal with family or enjoying cocktails or international and domestic beers with friends, this is one place you will not want to miss.

Best food in Orange County – WOW! What else can I say. Clean restaurant, great service, and the Seabass was scrumptious! Definitely my favorite restaurant.

It's going down hill..... The salad situation described in the above reviews is a scam, I know personally. The servers are told to, for lack of a better word "sneak" them in on you. They are sales people and get certain shifts according to selling. They do not treat their employees very well as upper management has changed hands to some clown who came from kings fish house. Well if you want to change Opah into king's, you are going in the right direction. It has been noticably slower but they do have the "only place around" ... read more

It's just ehhh.... – I guess for being the only restaurant in Aliso Viejo it's nice but I can get more value for my dollar going to Sizzler. My friends in Aliso swear by this place. I tried it out thinking my friends can't be that dumb or tasteless. Apparently, I was wrong. The food is comparable to Elephant Bar or a good Cheesecake Factory. Next time i'm in O.C. I'm going to stick to Newport or Laguna for dining.

Sleazy manager - questionable ethics I went to this restaurant with 10 of my friends tonight. When I ordered the filet mignon, the waiter said, "Would you like house or caesar?" I'm not a big salad fan, as it's cold and it's rabbit food to me, but obligingly, I said, "Caesar, please." When the bill came, the restaurant had charged all 10 mothers $8 each for their salads. I was incredulous, and told the waiter that he did not make it clear that there was an extra charge for salads. His response: "I'll get the manager." Intere... read more

Opah is a Hawaiian fish and sticking to the theme, this restaurant has plenty of fish offerings including halibut, bass, moon fish and of course opah.

Questionable ethics, mediocre food, bad experience overall – 10 girlfriends and I went to this place for our annual holiday get-together. When the women on our side of the table ordered our entrees, including filet mignon, pasta, and fish, the waiter responded, "Would you like house or Caesar salad?" Surprised that a salad came with the entree, I responded, "Caesar, please." I don't normally order salads at restaurants, as I don't like to pay for cold food that I can make at home. When the food arrived, the waiter had charge... read more
