What can I say that hasn’t already been echoed by the myriad of 5 star reviews prior? I can attest that the food here is excellent, the salmon buttery, the tuna- melt in your mouth perfection, and the rice perfectly cooked. Teddy is a fantastic chef, very humble, and such a pleasure to talk to. Oota-Ya is one of the rare gems in Victoria, truly deserving of its perfect rating. Gochisōsama deshita!
I visited OOTA-YA and had the salmon aburi, beef tataki, and curry with rice—everything was delicious and clearly made with care. The owner was incredibly pleasant and kind, and as a small, newcomer owned business, I would absolutely recommend supporting him. The food was prepared very quickly, the service was warm and genuine, and you could really tell he puts maximum effort into his food and his customers. A must-visit spot.
