Usually I have to work hard to remove chemical residues from new cotton clothing, since I agree with Onno about the hazards of wearing conventionally grown and processed cotton. It's not good enough to buy organically-grown cotton stuff, since the nasty chemicals you avoid by buying organic cotton can be replaced by equally nasty chemicals used to process the organic cotton into fabric.
