I was genuinely excited to check out One Academy today. I’ve heard great things, and a friend even gave me a free guest pass. When I arrived, they couldn’t find the pass and then told me the guest pass only applied to classes, not the gym itself. I asked to simply look around and get a feel for the gym, but the staff gave me a very hard time instead of welcoming a potential new member. I joined One Academy almost two years ago and it is by far the best gym I have ever been to. I had just had my second child and was finding it extremely difficult to get back into shape and reached a plateau that I could not get past. Not only did one academy help me get back onto pre baby shape, but it has taken me to a point well beyond that. One Academy Etobicoke offers some strong coaching and a dedicated community, but the positives are overshadowed by leadership issues and unsafe practices. Holiday classes are frequently overcrowded, and management rarely addresses concerns effectively. Until leadership improves, this gym may not be worth the risk.
This is hands down one of the best gyms in the city. Their classes will challenge you and leave you feeling accomplished. The coaches are incredible, always pushing you to reach your limits. If you’re looking for solid workouts + a strong community, this is the place to be.
