My chevy van "excellent condition for the year" was leaking gas when I was putting gas in it. I noticed the hoses on the gas tank were dry rotted and cracked. I pulled in and told the owner I wanted the gas tank removed and new rubber hoses installed. Simple. Couple hour job for a rookiewith no lift. Simply drop the tank down, pull off the cracked vent hose, fill hose and fuel line. Put new ones on and put the tank back I am also a skilled mechanic but am now disabled and cannot do this repair. I needed one screw tightened on a radiator hose, an I got leave it here an I'll go over it an give you an estimate on the repair. I replied its just a screw I'd pay you 15 or 20 dollars to fix it he said no no I've lost interest in helping you I'm guessing he wanted an hours pay to tighten 1 screw.
