Gotta say that I’m pretty disappointed in the way a leaking roof gets handled with Olthof. It’s been 2 and a half months since the leak started and it’s leaking worse now than when it started. The sense of urgency with an issue like this is absolutely unacceptable. Maybe this review will get them to take these types of issues a little more seriously.
construction is cheap, craftsmanship is awful
I will tell you, Olthof built me a nice home, and other than a few drywall cracks and corners that aren't straight, I could not be happier! However, over this past winter, they bit off more than they could handle and built several homes at once. The house next to me has a yard that is so terribly done, not sure why they would not have waited for spring but they put down sod, seed, and planted trees in December. Several other builders to build with, I recommend to look at other builders even if you have to pay a little more, it will be well worth it in the long run. I have had several issues with my home, they use very cheap material to build their homes and their contractors are the ones that give them the cheapest bid. It does not matter how well they do the work, bottom line it is the money they save. Purchased a home from Olthof in Dyer Indiana. Closed on November 30, 2018, explained that I would be doing up grades on this home and wouldn't be moving in until January 2019. Thirty days from my closing I was contacted for warranty repair and I explained at that time we weren't even in our home, the lady said no problem we can schedule it another time just contact us. Olthof built a Sequoia model for us in Valparaiso. The construction quality is sub-par and the customer service is the actual worst. These people will do ANYTHING to dodge a significant warranty issue and will send unfriendly canned responses for whatever you bring up. They don't even pretend to care that there are issues with your brand new home. I dealt with Lisa Alamillo specifically for my warranty contacts, and she is terrible. Olthof is terrible. I agree 100% with the last logged review by James W. We also had a long list of items at our 30 day warranty check, many of which ARENT warranty related. Our "upgraded" cabinets look as though the stain was finger painted on by toddlers. Terrible paint work on the inside. When the light comes through the stairwell windows you can see all the different brush strokes and areas where the paint doesn't match, looks HORRIBLE. Olthof is one of the largest home builders in NWI and I recently bought a house for over $300,00 but you would never guess that with the quality of the workmanship that they put in their home building. It seem that the contractors and sub contractors do not care in the quality of work they do. In our walk through there were multiple issues with drywall , paint , cabinets etc... My family and I are very displeased with olth of and how they conduct business.. we were misrepresented some information by Trish and my husband was a bit upset although Taylor in the design center was very apologetic and offered to see if there was something that could be done by the choice of Todd olthoff today my family was told we were being passed over for the house despite paying the deposit selling our home and relocating states...that seems very unprofessional to me that their means of conflict resolution is to screw... read more
