We moved in to our home that had been rented out for three years. One bedroom had lots of peeling paint, grime, and possibly mold, but definitely mildew on the walls. There was adhesive on the walls. Parts of the walls had to be stripped down to a better layer, other parts that were in better shape needed to be partly chipped away.
