I saw Dr O prior to leaving the service (with PTSD issues) and found him to be very helpful. I read some of the other reviews and just shake my head… I expected my counselor to courteous, compassionate, and committed to my mental health. Dr O was all of those things. In return I’m pretty sure he expected the same from me (and his other patients). He sets firm ground rules and expects you to abide by them (as everyone in your life should). I stopped taking my son to Dr Offut when I realized he was over lapping his young clients. A session is 45 minutes. The first 15 min s with the parent and child, the second is with the child. Then he takes your child to playroom and calls another parent/child back.
I've been seeing Dr Offutt for years. I'm a vet with PTSD issues, he listens took me and I appreciate his services. Not sure what the underlying issues are with the 1s and 2s reviews. He's not perfect and I don't know what a perfect physicist is, but I would recommend.
After visiting Offutt a handful of times due to bouts of anxiety/depression he calls to tell me I should see another psychologist when I cancelled once! Once! After telling him how I was feeling during that time in my life, to be treated with such indifference and disrespect was absolutely abominable. Don’t waste your money.
I am so disappointed... My first time ever getting enough courage to make an appointment with a psychologist and I get treated poorly. I saw Dr. Offutt for three weeks telling him things I’ve never told anyone before about things I’ve been through, having suicidal thoughts, everything you could say in 3 hours time.
