Went there today to get a special travel vaccine for my 6 month old. The reception staff were friendly and the doctor I saw was also very good and knowledgeable. However the facilities there are very poor. Only one toilet with a very old looking baby changing mat (with black stains). It did not look very clean. They can easily buy a fresh new mat from kmart for less than $20. For a center that is specialising on childrens health, im sure they have alot of babies and children coming in daily. Dr Maurizio was amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable and took time to make sure we understood everything. Our boy was 18 months old and it can be very confronting as a parent to have them in a vulnerable position. Dr Maurizio was fantastic at explaining at he was about to do and why. Additionally, he was conservative and recommended against surgery when it is obviously in his financial interests to go ahead with a surgery. Testament to his professionalism and expertise.
Ongoing illness in a fourteen your old. Had a referral from a GP, after waiting for 4 months for an appointment, we saw one doctor, who stated he couldn't help, however wrote a referral to another Dr in the Offspring Clinic. Received notification the next day that she was "unable to accept the patient". No attempt to refer or advise other suitable clinics. If you are sick, you are on your own. Doctors abilities end at medical certificates. So after 4 months, we have no Dr or referral. The medical system is a joke.
Beware that Offspring Hawthorn reception staff don't reliably process the Medicare refund after payment and you might be out of pocket hundreds of dollars. In 2025, l have now had my second experience of the Medicare refund not being processed at the time of paying the approx $450 fee. Last time l followed up with an email with no response. When l rang it was processed and the explanation was that it was 'just missed'. It's been missed again despite me requesting this doesn't happen in future. Appalling experience with this clinic. Having been rescheduled three times and twice bumped last minute. Go elsewhere if needing a specialist.
