We live on the east coast, making it a challenge to drop in and speak to employees to arrange a meaningful celebration of life for our mom. However, I tried many times to contact a manager or owner of this establishment, through phone, social media, and emails, to ensure we were able to bring a group of people to celebrate our mother’s life. Our family of more than 15 people came to Odessa Creamery today as part of a memorial for my mother, who was raised in Odessa and whose family originally started Odessa Ice Cream. We had reached out in advance, but the owner was very difficult to contact and rarely answered calls. When we arrived, the shop had closed at 4—even though their posted hours say they’re open until 6. It was deeply disappointing on such a meaningful day for our family.
