I recently moved to New Orleans and called Ochsner to make an appointment with a Rheumatologist. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I have been taking medication prescribed by my Rheumatologist in the state I moved from for a few years. I also saw an Orthopedic Specialist at the Hughston Clinic who confirmed the Rheumatoid Arthritis. When Zakem entered the exam room, he asked why I was there. Dr. Zakem is a very good doctor. He does not stop until he gets to the root of your problem. I had been previously misdiagnosed by 2 different physicians but he ran all the necessary test to accurately diagnose my problem.
If I could give him, his staff, and his resident Shah all zeroes, it would still be too high. They are far below the one star required to post. The staff was incompetent, making numerous scheduling mistakes. They scheduled the patient wherever they wanted for whatever time they wanted without ever contacting or notifying the patient. Some of those appointments were at the same time on the same day miles apart in physical location. They also need training in professionalism. I had two visits with Dr. Zakem, And wasn’t impressed with either one. The second one he told me well, you know age has a lot to do with it. I’m 60 years old and basically in good health. What a copout for a doctor to say!!! He may be too old to be practicing!
