Amazing mining experience. No axes or picks required. Our age ranges were 9 y/o- 72y/o. All of us enjoyed it. The Pala reservation is on absolutely beautiful land. It feels magical. The road to get to the site was rough, SUVs or trucks are a must. So glad we came.
My family came here to celebrate my wife's birthday and we had a blast. Though it took us over 2 hours of traffic due to a motocross race to get there. Laura, Chris, and Nate were so accommodating and knowledgeable. They constantly checked up on us and helped us identify some awesome gems we found. They felt bad that we lost several hours because of the traffic, they gave us free cold beverages and a high quality ore bag to my wife. What a great family activity. Super helpful staff. It can get hot so I would recommend bringing a pop-up for shade. Definitely a must do if you live in or are visiting the area.
Lauren and Chris were great hosts Lauren gets out in the rain and digs for gems . this is my beautiful find pink and black turmaline, purple lapedilite, quartz and a little piece of aquamarine all in one chunk about the size on my hand. It rained pretty hard and turned out to be a heck of a workout I'm 63 yo and I could do it and will agian. Thank you Pala ocianview mine, Lauren and Chris
