DO NOT GIVE THEM THE HOLDING DEPOSIT. You will have to go through endless hoops to get it back if you do not get the apartment. Even though you Zelle the holding deposit, they will NOT Zelle it back to you and will insist on mailing a check back to you. Do not accept this because they will delay mailing the check as long as possible. Ask to pick up the check in person. This holding fee is illegal, and this business should be held more accountable for stealing people’s money.

Same thing happened me based on another reviewer. They will tell you they need a deposit to hold an apartment (which is illegal). They will also say that it is refundable. I did not move forward with the apartment and it took me almost a month of messaging and calling them to get my refund. I had to threaten that I'd report them. SCAMMERS. They will tell you the deposit to hold an apartment is refundable, then fight you against admitting it actually is refundable — and then never actually mail the refund check. I have been waiting two months, they always have an excuse.

Do NOT give them a “refundable security deposit” in order to apply for a unit. In NYC, it is illegal that they require you to do that to apply. City View Living is holding $1000 from me and refuses to answer my emails or calls.
