After providing full drawings, heritage exemption, strata approval and phone consutation, full payment of fees was required. The certifier then highlighted waterproofing/fire statements from a Class 2 architect. Multiple Class 2 architects confirmed they would never sign off on standalone details for external plans—a basic industry reality the certifier should have known. Upon cancellation, they withheld $1,000.

I've had my fair share of bad certifiers, but Paul Rigon from NSW Building Certifiers was the opposite, would highly recommend as he got me out of some hard situations.

Do not engage Paul Rigon of NSW Building Certifiers. He is unethical. He was paid $2'872. He never returned our calls when engaged. When we followed up with Paul on email, as we had lost confidence in him as a supplier, he responded one month later via email as he was overseas. We asked to cancel the contract because he hadn't responded to our calls or messages left and he said he had undertook the assessment of the approved DA conditions and would only refund half the fee 'the same as council'!
