Not yet heard back from the homeless protection program. Sandra said she would be getting back to me. I actually haven't heard very great things about this place. Some tenants I know who have lived there have been sharing disturbing information around the care shown, power trips from staff and certain grandfathered in rules that don't reflect the main purpose of "new opportunities for women".
Abusive, negligent, CRUEL end to an otherwise helpful stay last year. The main caseworker, was psychologically abusive, discriminatory, and unethical in her treatment of me. I am speaking up about my experience because women deserve safety, dignity and respect. I'd suggest a full inquiry into NOW Canada's management. Kicked me out on the street at 19 for no reason. Rude teacher and cindy. Gov funded yet they treat the women bad luckily I had friends I stayed over at their place till I found a room to rent.
Although there is an excellent effort toward providing a wide variety of options and resources for women in circumstances that are too varied to name, the quality of training to respond effectively leaves many women in a confused or uncomfortable situation at best. Having worked with traumatized, dysfunctional, mental health and addiction population in Vancouver 4o + years , it surprises me how they have structured this supposed safe place.
