Please do not wait until you need them. They will schedule you 4 weeks out, with an URGENT referral, then when you call in tears begging for something sooner, you get a week out. An hour-long appointment later, they say they can't do anything for you, and you need to admit yourself for inpatient psych. Gee, imagine if I had help when the issue started, maybe you could have helped? I had such hope from my OB about them being specialists that I was crushed when they were so incredibly unhelpful.
