Was referred by my primary doctor. I’ve been trying for months to just make an appointment. I call over and over and it puts me on hold and no one ever picks up, even after 20 minutes. I got a letter in the mail saying if I don’t contact them to make an appointment then my referral is going to expire. How are your patients supposed to communicate? Do I have to drive all the way to Seattle just to talk to someone???PICK UP THE PHONE!

I usually love UW but their GI department is profoundly bad. I had sever IBS for years, tried every diet, app, pelvic floor pt, therapy, fiber supplement that can be thought of to help with ibs over the course of years hoping that something would help. All providers (except my pelvic floor pt) would not give me a physical exam, and would only recommend diet changes, fiber supplements, and therapy. There's a reason why this place has a low star rating. They aren't interested in patient care or doing things that are patient centric. They insist on calling me when I repeatedly tell them I'm in meetings or unavailable to talk on the phone during most of the day. Before this issue they messaged me ONCE, via MyChart and disabled the "reply" button so I couldn't even reply to their message. Keep in mind this is for a colonoscopy. My visit started out with the provider asking my why I was seen at 2 different health care systems - maybe it’s because it took months to get an appointment and I had a more urgent issue. She didn’t listen at all, was very judgemental, and spent the appointment discouraging me from seeing other doctors
