I hate to even give this company one star or even a fraction of one star. They transferred the servicing of my mortgage prior to my first payment, claimed that it wasn't being transferred took my money then transferred the loan 3 days later, did not send my money to the new servicer Do not use this company to purchase a home

HORRIBLE COMPANY. I've experienced better customer service at********** than I have with this mortgage company. During COVID-19 they refused to help me out when I accidentally missed by payment in February. I was in constant contact with the collections department and made the payment as soon as I could. I am now current on my payments but they REPORTED IT TO MY CREDIT?? After calling to get it taken care of, they blamed it on me and said I should've asked for a courtesy extension EVEN THOUGH THEY NEVER OFFERED THAT TO ME IN... read more

This company is despicable. The CORVID-19 outbreak has been a nightmare for all. Banks have suffered the least by far. Why has it taken over a month to be told that I need more information to request a forbearance? I was laid off...turn on the news. We don't have time for this. I need to know where my unemployment money will be going and we can't wait for this unprofessional lack of compromise. There should be a process in place by now to streamline this epidemic, or is this one of those companies that doesn't think it's rea... read more

THIS BANK IS ONE OF THE MOST UPROFESSIONAL MISLEADING BANK THAT I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED ! Just the night before closing we were told we needed more money down. Not once throughout the process did they advised we werent approved. My husband and I were so excited about the new home we were PRE-APPROVED for only to let us know last minute (THE NIGHT BEFORE WE WERE GOING TO CLOSE) that we werent actually approved. Before we even started the process we let them know of our financial status and they still said everything was good ... read more

Closing Disclosure I am writing to inform you of my recent and un=professional experience with one of Northpointe Bank loan officers. Your loan officer Ian M******* Internet Loan Officer, NMLS #****** believes 3 day rescission for VA loan that is a federal law under the Truth in Lending Act is for your customers to threaten him with after signing closing documents. Ian M******* sent a Closing Disclosure document five days prior to closing. After reviewing the document I notified M******* that the document was incorrect on t... read more

This is the worst HYSA I've had the displeasure to work with. My plan was to take advantage of the 1.5% interest rate. Opening the account was the usual process - went just fine. After my initial $1k deposit I went to transfer a sizable amount and discovered that this bank does not allow ACH transfers between banks - they can only accept wire transfers or check deposit at a limit of $10k/day. To withdrawl funds, the same process. I tried calling in to discuss with them and guess what - their phone lines were down. I had to ... read more

Business response:

A Northpointe Bank Executive spoke with this Customer on 12/04/17 and the customer was mistaken in his understanding that Northpointe Bank does not offer or accept electronic transactions ("ACH") which is incorrect. Northpointe Bank sends and receives thousands of ACH items every month. In addition, checks over $10,000 can be processed via mobile deposit, subject to approval. Upon receiving this updated information, customer stated he appreciated the clarification but still wishes to close his account. The Bank will agree to... read more

5% who cares, they charge transfer fees, Bank Is A JOKE!, they also cost me fees at another bank because of their screwed up system and then I emailed customer service agent who responded but then ignored me all the way up to this day (months ago) once she knew that they costs me fees. What a banking JOKE! I'm in the market for a home but because of their ignorance and total crap for customer service I'm closing my account and will never do business with them again including home buying. Zero Rating!!! Sincerely,****** *****... read more

Business response:

In response to your review, yes we pay five (5%) percent on our checking account for amounts up to $10,000, based on qualifying terms and conditions. We also charges a $3 fee for any transfer made through our bill payment system that are going out to accounts outside of Northpointe Bank, but there is no fee if the funds are being transferred into Northpointe Bank. If our systems are not working properly which causes our customers to incur unnecessary fees at other financial institutions, we will reimburse our customers for ... read more

What seemed like a very smooth process quickly imploded because of a careless mistake and lack of oversight on the loan officer. I am a single mother and contacted Northpointe bank regarding down payment assistance. The loan officer was supplied with a Salary Key, my employee data report, 2 years worth of taxes/account transcripts from the IRS/paystubs, and a letter directly from my employer stating my income. After supplying all necessary information, I was told I qualified for the Home ownership Opportunity Program (HOP)... read more

Business response:

We apologize for the mis-understanding on your particular loan application. Northpointe Bank takes advantage of Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis' Homeownership Opportunities Program (HOP) to help first-time homebuyers at or below 80% median income with down payment and closing costs and thus improving their eligibility for mortgage financing. The eligibility is dependent on the limit imposed by the median income of a particular county. Based on the income limits, the Loan Officer did explain that you would qualify for ... read more

I have been a Northpointe Bank account holder for a couple months now and I've had a very positive experience. I stumbled upon these reviews when trying to convince someone of how awesome Northpointe's high interest Ultimate Account is, and they thought the deal was so good it had to be a scam. Not only is it not a scam, the company has been great to work with -- and we don't even live in a state where they have a physical branch. It's also earning a higher interest rate than several investments I own. I hope the people who ... read more

Business response:

Thank you for the positive review. We always appreciate hearing feedback from one of our customers. Our Ultimate Account is one of the best bank accounts in the country and in part why Northpointe was voted as the Best Bank in Grand Rapids for the third year in a row.
