My first contact with this shop. On a recommendation from an acquaintance, I went there to book a service for my Land Cruiser. I found the place very clean and well laid out. The reception was very efficient- one aspect I particularly appreciated was that, unlike most other workshops, they book you in for a time slot, instead of "drop your car 1st thing in the morning and we'll call you when ready.", which is always late in the afternoon. edited for greater clarity: Went to this mechanic for a service, fix a small coolant leak, and to inspect a sound I was getting on cold starts. They quoted for 2.5 hours of labor for a service, which makes you think they will perform a thorough inspection of your vehicle. This was not my experience. I had a coolant leak where three hoses intersect, and mentioned that I thought a clamp was no longer working, since I had been tightening but I would always need to tighten it again. The team at Northern Mechanical are legends. Gus helped me out with my battery and honestly, I couldn’t have asked for better service. He knew exactly what he was doing, explained everything in simple terms, and had the problem sorted straight away. Before this, I’d been to a few different places and kept getting told I needed a brand-new battery or expensive electrical work. Gus proved that wasn’t the case and saved me a heap of stress (and money). Super grateful—I’ll definitely be back!
