My daughter is in grad program for visual impairment (teaching the blind) & is getting an add-on for mobility & is considering another add-on in adaptive technologies for the blind at NIU. Her experience (coming from University of Alabama which we love too btw) have exceeded our expectations. Campus is beautiful, professors are top of their fields, office people couldn't be nicer or more helpful and the people on campus are really friendly. It's safe and affordable. She loves NIU.
I know my nephew Michael is attending an excellent college & he is getting the best possible education there! Wonderful programs & teachers & he is benefitting from that for his future in the business world!

Staff are rude and not helpful at all to disabled visitors. Concessions are very expensive and listed. This was my second time, and equally as disappointed as the first time. Terrible experience!
My youngest daughter attends NIU and so far the experience has been good.
The campus life is the great life. I like how you are not too far from the nearest grocery store.
This place is really out of shape, all the classrooms and buildings look like their out of the 80s and really the only decent part is the teaching staff who are all young and underpaid and can relate really well to the students because they just got done going to the same shitty school they're now teaching at.
I had an amazing experience at NIU. I met my husband and some life long friends. Most of my classes were challenging and worth while. Any university you go to will be as good or as bad as you make it.
