My sessions with Dr. Busto felt rushed and impersonal. He asked very few questions, which made it seem like he had already made up his mind about me before truly understanding my situation. I left feeling more discouraged than helped. The general attitude of doctors and nurses alike on the psychiatry floor appears to be (who cares what the patients think, and how would they speak up about it anyways?).
Had a request sent from the Jack Nathan Health clinic for an ultrasound three weeks ago. Called to ask where I am in the lineup as I've been told that there's only one, yes ONE ultrasound tech for the entire hospital. No problem, my entire family works in healthcare so I know that hospitals all over BC have been understaffed for 20 years and counting...BUT the ultrasound receptionist decided to mention that "some people have been waiting 9 months" for their ultrasound and I really don't care about discussing other people's h... read more
Psychiatrist Eric Antonio Busto is patronizing and unhelpful. Over the course of six days he saw me for three short periods. It saddens me that people like Eric can just decide if someone is worthy of help or not.
How long will the system fail? My wife has been dismissed as having an "anxiety disorder" while having seizures right in front of the ER doctors for over 3 years now. The lack of foresight in bringing 20000 "temporary" foreign workers into the comox valley, closing the walk in clinics, not creating incentives for family doctors and having the ER as essentially a walk in clinic has left our healthcare shattered. In regards to the professional conduct of a specific staff member within the Mental Health and Addictions Clinic at Comox Valley Hospital. A nurse who also functions in a “Crisis” response role. She is an older, thin woman with a short dark pixie cut, frequently seen working directly with vulnerable patients in high-stress mental health situations.
