The Recycle, Reuse Event at Santa Rosa Fairgrounds was great, though line for weighing items on way out was long and slow at times. Would you consider doing this event twice a year? Thank you for being part of the conversation at local events to build relationships, answer questions and educate. How about asking the company Ridwell ( they recycle many things you do not for a small fee) to join you when you do outreach at local events, could be a positive collaboration for the community.
This review is specifically for the Reuse Bazaar. I was able to clear out useful household items, decor and clothes to rehome. My family had fun searching for treasures at the event and we all found something to take home. It was well organized, but could improve in the traffic management during donation hours.
The Reuse Bazaar by Recology, the City of Santa Rosa, and others, provided a great service and was very well organized. My only complaint is that so many people took advantage of the event. That's a good thing except for the fact that the line was really long. It was more than 75 cars long at 8:15 a.m., just after they opened. By 10:45, there were more than a hundred cars in line and they were backed up all the way onto the exit ramp from highway 12. The Reuse event was awesome!! I could go on and on about how wonderful the staff and volunteers were. I realize it takes months to organize this event, but the hours are very short. If it had a bit longer hours, even if I didn’t personally need items, I know I could’ve found homes for so much…especially book distribution. The possibility of an event twice a year would also be welcome as spring cleaning is typical and people don’t hold onto things for another 6 months to donate. All in all it was wonderful!!! Absolutely one of the worst waste companies I have ever dealt with. I've been living here for only two years and have had to fight with them numerous times. They miss pick-ups. They are unable to deliver or switch bins without you getting on the phone and screaming at them. They will lie to you about their systems and functions. Unresponsive, badly trained personnel -- the list goes on and on about this monopoly of a necessary, core service. They need a complete overhaul and more oversight.
