I’ve owned 3 pairs of Nola speakers Contender, Contender S3 and Metro Grand Gold 2. The Contenders punch well above there price point. Very open live sound beautiful midrange, voices to die for. Highly detailed but never harsh. Could live with them forever except I heard the Reference range. My Metro Grand Gold2 take what is capable to another level. Spooky the way they can deliver a holographic sound stage. Took me 10 years to afford them. It’s nice to be off the upgrade mode. I stopped looking.
I've heard Carl's speaker designs for almost my entire life, literally! I've listened to the best there is at any level and I keep coming back to these designs. Several decades and dozens of speaker sets later, I'm still loving the sound. The little ones will shock you (just feed them a little more power, they'll eat it right up). The big ones will absolutely blow you away, and you won't even know how good they are till the "next best thing" just hurts to hear.
