I have gone to Dr scharf for 20+ years. I have found him and his staff honest and competent. He has always offered me option, presents the facts so I can make an informed decision and I have proof of his expertise-a 12 1/2 year old bulldog. Bulldogs life expectancy is about 10.
We have been clients of Animal Hospital of Niskayuna for over thirty years. Dr. Shcarf is thorough and caring. When our dog had a problem with copper in his liver, Dr. Scharf did hours of research and contacted colleagues to learn all he could about the issue. My dog is now happy and healthy. I can not say enough about the caring staff he employs. When one of our dogs had cancer, they went so far as to feed him baby food with a spoon! My experience has been totally different than the others. I have had nothing but a positive experience with Dr. Scharf and the entire staff. They treat my pets with compassion and truly care about every aspect of what happens. I would highly recommend this veterinary hospital to anyone.
Avoid this vet. He does not seem to relate to animals at all. He uses a choke leash to hold cats while he examines them. Along with an inexperienced tech whose movements weren't coordinated with his, the situation was dangerous for my cat.
I did not have a pleasant experience at this office. I would say this vet is mainly in practice for the money. He did not have one positive comment to make regarding my pet. He continued to find things wrong that would cost lots of money. He offered no advice or any suggestions on anything I might do as a pet owner, but offered $300.00 to $400.00 worth of services.
